Artist Statement

Painting is how I speak when words fall short.

After years in the fast-paced corporate world, I finally gave myself permission to slow down and explore something I had always dreamed of—painting. Though I’ve long been surrounded by art, collecting it since my twenties and creating with my hands through crafts like sewing and sculpting ceramic roses in the Capodimonte style, I had always wondered: what if I tried painting too?

Now that I have, I feel at home.

I’m drawn to flowers not just for their beauty, but for what they represent—delicacy, strength, presence, and emotion. My process reflects this complexity. I work with mixed media to build rich, textured layers, finishing each piece in oils that bring depth and vibrancy. This layering mirrors the many facets of life and feeling, inviting viewers to look deeper beneath the surface.

Starting this journey later in life has been a powerful reminder that reinvention is always possible—that it’s never too late to discover new parts of yourself and express them fully.

Each piece I create is an invitation to pause, reflect, and feel—to connect with a quiet, intimate part of themselves. I hope my work offers moments of calm and contemplation, sparks memories or emotions, and reminds us all of the subtle power found in beauty and resilience.

Artist Bio

Slavenska Stockwell was born and raised in Panama, where she developed an early appreciation for vibrant color, lush nature, and beauty in everyday life. After spending several years in California, she now lives near Atlanta, where she continues to explore her creative voice through painting in her professional home studio.

Her work is rooted in emotion and intuition. As a naturally quiet and introspective person, painting has become her way of expressing what words often cannot. She is drawn to the stillness and poetry of the natural world — flowers, landscapes, and quiet scenes — and uses color, light, and form to capture fleeting moments of presence and beauty.

Before dedicating herself fully to painting, she worked in the corporate world and also explored many hands-on crafts such as sewing and sculpting ceramic roses in the Capodimonte style. Today, she brings that same attention to detail and creative passion into every brushstroke, honoring a long-held dream and lifelong love for art.

Slavenska’s artwork is available to collectors internationally, reflecting her commitment to sharing moments of beauty and emotion beyond borders. Working from her professional home studio, she continually refines her craft and looks forward to expanding her artistic presence in the art community.
